Ramen (in Chinese, 拉面) means "pulled noddle". Ramen is a Japanese noodle soup dish which consists of wheat noodle served in broth. There also have cold ramen nowadays, which served like soba-style. But for me, I prefer having my ramen in hot soup!
Ichiban Ramen is a specialized ramen restaurant which has grown popular and national chain of total 9 stores in Klang valley, Penang, Malacca and Johor Bahru. It is a halal food store as they introduce the authentic Japanese ramen with chicken based soup.
My usual drinks when I'm eating the Japanese cuisine. Green tea!
Lime with sour plum blended. Sourish and icy!!
I had the Chicken Chashu Ramen. "Chashu" here means "slices". This is a miso based soup as the soup is thick and nutty. The toppings for this ramen are boiled egg, dry seaweeds, menma (lactate-fermented bamboo shoots) and spring onions. The taste is slightly salty as the miso is bean paste. Some people claimed that the soup is tasted slightly sweet. Different individuals have different taste!
My sis have a Teriyaki Chicken Donburi. Donburi or in short form, Don is a rice bowl dish which has various toppings to be served on the rice such as fish, meat or vegetables. The teriyaki chicken is soft as it was not fried but grilled with the sauce and have a sweet flavour like honey.
Finally, the Salmon ramen. My sis's friend has this as she wanted to try something new. For me, this is my first time to see a salmon being served in a ramen. How about you? Seen this kind of ramen before or no? The soup also a miso-based soup but not as thick as mine. Eventually, the salmon does go well with the ramen and soup! Yum yum.
Overall, the ramens are taste good and the price is reasonable. We only just spend RM70++ (inclusive service tax and govt tax, plus one more person who only orders drinks and does not eat). Their service is also good and the staff are very friendly.
This will be my choice of restaurant whenever I visit the shopping mall. ;)
